Story
We're marking 30 years of IPSEA as a registered charity.
IPSEA was originally established as a voluntary organisation carrying out free assessments of children's special educational needs. Over time we have evolved, and we are now widely recognised as the leading organisation providing free independent legally based advice and support for families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
By law, children with SEND are entitled to educational support that meets their individual needs. But the system for supporting children and young people with SEND is in crisis, and we need your help to reach more families.
Parents and carers are too often required to overcome barriers to secure educational support for their children, and are increasingly having to endure lengthy disputes with local authorities who are failing to deliver on their legal obligations.
Consequently, our services are needed now more than ever. Ensuring that children and young people receive the right educational provision is life-changing, and we work directly with parents and carers who often feel powerless and isolated.
We've set out to raise £30,000 towards our vital work £1k for each year we've been helping families. As a small charity with a big reach, this money will make an incredible difference to us, and could allow us to:
-Fund a legal team member to influence SEND policy and challenge unlawful practices in local authorities
-Contribute towards our free advice and support services for families
-Train new volunteers to staff our helplines and Tribunal Support Service
Support us to use the law to improve access to education for children and young people with SEND. Can you help us reach our target?
