Story

We are fundraising to help complete construction of the new Islamic Community Centre at Maidenhead Jamia Masjid, a project that promises to be a beacon of learning, unity, and support for generations to come.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise”.

The teachings of the Prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) indicate that in the Houses of Allah, the name of Allah is mentioned and praised to him, and that they are where souls gather for remembrance, knowledge and performing special worship. It serves as a centre for consultation and reception of delegations, and is considered a base for doing all matters related to society.

Building mosques and contributing to them is one of the greatest good deeds that a person can do in his life, and its constants will continue to flow to the contributor in this world and the hereafter.

Maidenhead Mosque has a very rich history. The first purpose built mosque in Berkshire, it has evolved to become a focal point for the community. The Mosque has gone through a number of stages of development and progress. The building has become an attractive landmark of our Royal Borough and is well-known to all muslim and non muslim, with a very proud history. Serving the community, the mosque has developed over the years catering for all people by providing vital services and assistance. With recent developments, the services being offered have increased; a recent renovation means that the Masjid accommodates more people than ever, with a modern wudhu (ablution) facility catering for men and women and the acquirement of he old CAB building next door to use for classes, meetings, seminars and various events. We inspire to provide a range of holistic, culturally sensitive services for the community of Maidenhead, drawing on our Islamic values and heritage, with a view to improving quality of life and enhancing cohesion. Our aims are to: Focus on the needs of the diverse Muslim community whilst ensuring services are open to all. Meet the needs of the local community by promoting health, education and employment opportunities. Provide an opportunity to learn and understand Islam, through dialogue, discussion and social interaction.
