Story
The American Healthy Heart Association is a student organization at FHSU with a vested interest in students' mental and physical health. Their latest mission is to help students combating Insulin Dependent Diabetes that are struggling with the financial strain of paying for Insulin.
Frederick Banting and Charles Best won a Nobel Prize for the discovery of Insulin. However, they understood what a life-saving treatment insulin injection could be, so they gave away the patent for free to ensure that it was available for everyone.
Overtime, insulin prices have increased considerably. As these prices increase, students with Insulin Dependent Diabetes have difficulties finding a way to pay for tuition, other expenses, and insulin .
Insulin Aid Project is an assistance award for students with Insulin Dependent Diabetes developed by the American Healthy Heart Association. Individuals suffering from Insulin Dependent Diabetes must come up with anywhere between $500-$1000 more each month than the typical college student. These students are more likely to drop out of school due to severe financial strain.
Funds donated to Insulin Aid Project will go directly to FHSU students to provide financial assistance for insulin costs. Your gift will allow these students to focus on academics, knowing that they have their Insulin covered. Funds raised will directly benefit students struggling because of a condition beyond their control.
Please consider bringing back Banting and Best's vision for Insulin access and thank you very much for considering the cause.
