Story

Zac was born October 13, 1998, alongside his twin brother, Trevor. For 15 years Zac lived a pretty normal life doing typical boy things. He was into gaming, technology, drawing, and had developed a new interest in music including learning how to play the violin.

In 2014, his health began to take a turn when he developed headaches, abdominal pain, and swelling that remained unexplained by his doctors until he arrived at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. Zac was first diagnosed with a kidney disease and sent home. The weeks following, his health continued deteriorating and he was admitted back into Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. It didn't take long for the doctors to realize Zac had a very rare form of cancer called Neuroendocrine Carcinoma and it was now in its advanced stage. Zac spent the next months in and out of a coma, on a ventilator, receiving too many treatments to list, chemo, and the list goes on. Through it all, Zac and his family never lost hope and developed a very close relationship with the doctors, nurses, and staff at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital.

In December of 2014, Zac was sent home as his health was beginning to improve. He didn't hesitate to go out and do all the things he had been missing out on for months. He was able to drive a car, go shooting, hang out with his friends and family, visit his school and spend Christmas at home. He was also able to take his Make-A-Wish trip to the Apple Headquarters in Cupertino, CA.

Shortly after, his health declined once again, and he was admitted back into the hospital and ultimately sent home on hospice. Zac succumbed to his disease and entered Heaven on February 26, 2015 at the young age of 16 surrounded by his family and his doctors and nurses who had grown to love and cherish Zac. Zac is survived by his parents Tim and Kathy Farrington, his brother Trevor Farrington, his sister Nicole Vetere and his nephew and niece, Dominic and Mia Vetere.

Since 2015, Zac's family has vowed to always keep his memory alive. In doing so, his family has set up multiple fundraisers in honor of Zac and donated their time and resources to help other families at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital who are going through the same journey.

It is the hope of the family that Zac's life will not only be celebrated and honored but will serve to give hope and awareness to others.
