Story
We all have wishes. Some are material, other spiritual. Some people wish to have, to possess, others to just be. Some long to be close to a loved one they haven't seen in a while. Others wish they could be in some special place in the world. Wishes come in all shapes and colours and textures. They are like human beings themselves: varied, diverse and full of surprises.
Since Indian Futures was born, there's been a flow of wishes coming our way. The first of all was a request from the students in Vedanthangal: to have computers in their schools.
Indian Futures then started to work hard to help make their wish come true. For more than a year, we've been organising fundraising events of all kinds, setting up stalls at festivals and markets, running pub quizzes, gigs, DJ sessions and, most recently, an art exhibition.
Now we can say our efforts have paid off and the money for the first stage of our IT Community Centres project arrived in Vedanthangal in October this year.
However, as thrilled as we are to finally see the project take off we still don't have the funds we need to complete all the stages. In short, we need to have £9,400 (of which we already have £6,800) by next year in order to provide a laptop, an IT teacher and Internet connection to the 37 after-school centres in and around the area of Vedanthangal, Tamil Nadu.
This Christmas, will you help the wishes of our students come true?
Happy Christmas. Happy Wishes.
