On 2 February 2023, our beloved friend and colleague Janet Black lost her brief battle with Leukaemia.

Janet was kind, committed, supportive, funny and fiercely passionate about her work. At Entrepreneurial Scotland Foundation (ESF), Janet lead in the role of Operations Director and during her time with the team, she had a powerful and irrevocable impact on the organisation and us all, introducing change that will benefit the organisation for years to come.

Before joining ESF, Janet spent close to five years at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), where she made a huge impact; latterly leading the development of UWSs Centre for Continuing Professional Development, which included the delivery of the UKs first cohort of Chinese delegates under the SAFEA scheme and the successful bid to the Community Renewal Fund for UWSs award-winning Carbon Champions Programme.

Everyone at ESF and UWS are heartbroken by the news of Janet's passing. All our thoughts are with Janets husband Thomas, stepdaughter Amelia and daughter Poppy.
