Story
The Covid-19 pandemic has had an extremely significant impact on people's mental and physical wellbeing - not just through fear, concern and infection - but through isolation which has been exacerbated by digital exclusion.
Lack of digital equipment such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and/or the skills to use these, has resulted in increased isolation. This in itself has created high levels of loneliness during the pandemic - can you imagine being unable to have video calls with family/friends, join online groups, not being able to access online medical appointments, having no access to online banking or online shopping including food shopping?
The pandemic has created even bigger inequalities in mental health than those which were already there people with pre-existing mental illness have experienced more frequent problems during periods of lockdown. More people than ever are suffering with poor mental health.
Having digital equipment will enable people supported by Imagine Independence to access community opportunities, reduce isolation, develop and enhance their digital skills and build resilience to cope with ongoing lockdown restrictions and face the post COVID-19 world.
With your help Imagine Independence can break down this barrier.
