Story
On June 21st, 2024, a group of IHP staff and other close friends of IHP will be walking the London bridges to celebrate 20 years of IHP bridging the gap to access to healthcare. We will be walking to raise vital funds for the safe, fast distribution of medicine and medical supplies to those around the world who struggle to access the healthcare they need.
Covering 16 bridges in London, we will be walking approximately 20 kilometres, starting at Putney Bridge and ending at Tower Bridge. We will be carrying an Essential Health Pack (EHP), or mobile pharmacy, with us, just as our in-country partners do distributing medicine to patients in hard-to-reach communities around the world. EHPS are IHPs first line of response when a disaster hits and consist of two shipping boxes with a range of medicines to respond to essential health needs.
The Challenge
- Walking approximately 20 kilometres across the bridges of central London
- Carrying a portable pharmacy, 2 boxes weighing 10 kilograms each
- Raising support for the distribution of essential medicine
Every pound raised will go towards International Health Partners Bridging the Gap Campaign. International Health Partners is a registered charity providing medicines and medical supplies to ease suffering and save lives.
As the frequency of humanitarian crises and disasters increase, global health needs are being drastically compounded. More than 2 billion people lack access to healthcare around the world. We’re working hard to change this - but we need your help.
For 20 years, IHP has been a beacon of hope and healing, bringing quality healthcare to over 106 million patients around the world. Whilst most of us are able to go to a pharmacy or clinic and get the medication we need, this is simply not the case for the people IHP serves - there are many barriers in the way.
As we mark two decades, we look ahead and recognise we need to develop our services to reach more people with the healthcare they need.
£10 could help rebuild health systems post disaster, by continuing to send medicines and medical supplies that will enhance the health and well-being of the affected population.
£20 could enable us to scale our healthcare programs, enhance access to essential medical services, and aid local pharmacies in maintaining sufficient stock levels for saving lives and empowering communities.
£50 could enable IHP to invest in research to grow and develop our programmes and activities reaching more people around the world.
