Story
Ignite Life is a charity that aims to help young people and their families overcome adversity. Ignite focuses on relieving the needs of disadvantaged and/or marginalised young people through supporting with wellbeing and mental-health, family support, addressing food poverty and economic inequality and educational support.
We run three main services which aim to work collectively to provide the best possible support mentoring, these are counselling, and food delivery
Ignite's mentoring service supports young people when they are not having their needs met elsewhere. Mentoring can be the only contact young people have outside their home due to not being in school, this allows young people to build safe relationships and work towards their goals.
Ignite provides vital support to vulnerable young people throughout the school holidays when support usually stops
Since launching in January 2021, Ignite Life has provided 50 young people with 1:1 counselling and we continue to receive a growing number of referrals. We provide mental health support to those who, due to social disadvantage, too often slip through the net.
three in four young people with a diagnosable mental health condition do not receive access to support from the NHS or other services
Our food delivery service supports families in food poverty. Disadvantage causes barriers for young people, causing challenges in education, employment, and social life. Food poverty can act as a barrier to achieving in other aspects of life and through our service we are able to alleviate this pressure and support families who need emergency care.
Since April 2020, we have delivered over 80,000 meals and £2000 in food vouchers to families in food poverty
