Story

Ian Trencher's 2021 Baxters Loch Ness Marathon for Wigan Rotary

The Challenge

On Sunday 3rd October, 2021, I will be taking on the challenge of the Loch Ness Monster by running a huge 26.2 miles along the banks of Loch Ness in Scotland. The course is a very scenic Nessie shaped route on the undulating road along the side of Loch Ness. I will be driven out to an atmospheric moorland location and then piped off from the start by the bagpipes of a Highland band. After a great many ups and downs, I will hopefully eventually reach the grandstand finish at the Highland Capital of Inverness.

Training

I have managed to maintain my training throughout the difficult and challenging isolation of lockdown and have since been preparing for the lumps and bumps of Scotland by taking on numerous events in the Lake District and closer to home taking on our very own Billinge Lump with Billinge Running Club.

The Charity

As an Associate Member of Wigan Rotary Club, I am hoping to use the opportunity to raise some additional money for the Charity Fund, which will be of benefit to our many beneficiary charities at home and abroad. Any donations you can offer to support my charity are greatly appreciated '
