Story
Challenge
Hurricane Milton is forecast to make landfall in Florida as a record-breaking storm, with the largest evacuation underway in the region since Hurricane Irma in 2017. Millions of people are in Milton's path, and with wind speeds over 180 miles per hour, Milton may be one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes ever. Communities affected by Milton will require support for evacuation, including shelter, food, and clothing. Many of those impacted are still reeling from Hurricane Helene.
Solution
All donations to this fund will help Hurricane Milton survivors in the Tampa region at the eye of the storm, and throughout Florida and affected areas of the Southeast. These efforts will be led by GlobalGiving's network of vetted partners. Initially, the fund will help meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. As needs evolve, the fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted nonprofits.
