Story
Huntington's In Mind is a new campaign from the Huntington's Disease Association, highlighting how mental health issues can affect anyone living with Huntington's disease, from those who carry the gene, to their carers, families and friends, to those who are gene negative.
We believe that no one living with Huntington's should have to face struggles with their mental health alone. Mental health support is a lifeline for many, and it needs to be accessible to all.
Throughout Huntington's Disease Awareness Month we will feature the stories of three families living with Huntington's, they will share the challenges they face, and the hope that the charity gives them. Stories like David's.
For someone living with Huntington's, accessing mental health support can be difficult. Even being able to attend appointments and clinics can be hard, and many have told us the support they need is often out of reach.
The Huntington's Disease Association works with professionals across health, social and mental health care, to help them recognise how Huntington's can affect someone's mental health and be able to offer the right support at the right time.
Together we can make a difference.
