When the pandemic hit, many lives in Central Florida were turned upside down. Families that never thought they would need help were suddenly going through lay-offs and furloughs. Many were finding themselves needing food assistance for the very first time, and the need for food assistance in Central Florida instantly doubled. But thanks to the support of people like you, Second Harvest went from distributing 150,000 meals a day, to distributing 300,000 meals a day. We could not do this without the kindness of the community stepping in to help our neighbors in need. However, we still have a lot of work to do.
