Story

Our son Huey was born with a life-threatening heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He was born at Chelsea & Westminster, but immediately swept off to The Royal Brompton, a specialist heart and lung hospital in central London.

Here he was put under the care of their world class team, as he underwent two critical open heart surgeries as part of a six month stay. Both surgeries were a resounding success and he is now at home. He will require a third surgery before he turns four.

Huey's survival has depended on the leading expertise, technology and care at the hospital. All of which is supported by the Brompton Fountain charity, who works closely with the paediatric teams and provides a wide range of vital resources and services, as well as funding medical equipment and improvements to the hospital facilities.

During our long term stay in the hospital, the charity did so much to support Huey and our family, ranging from arranging family counselling sessions through to music therapy and physio for Huey, and even buying us Christmas gifts, as we were there through the holiday season.

We're raising funds for the charity to ensure their support of children with serious cardiac and respiratory illnesses can continue and grow into the future, so more babies like Huey are given their shot at life.
