Story
HIZ-Path has experienced significant growth in the opportunity to serve Zambians. Beyond the Haven, we are now actively involved in the local K-11 school, pre-school, school for children with special needs, and the hospital’s physiotherapy clinic. We have also recently begun a working relationship with the children’s surgical hospital in Lusaka. These increased opportunities come with increased costs, and we are reluctant to pass them along to graduate students. Despite the increasing costs of airfare, food, and lodging, we have worked hard to not to raise the cost of the trip for the student. Raising the students’ cost reduces the number of students who are able to participate and the fewer students we take, the fewer Zambians we can serve.
Your contribution will allow us to cover some of the expenses associated with the HIZ-Path program. We often encounter patients who need treatment in Lusaka where they can see audiologists, craniofacial surgeons and ENT physicians; however, the $35 bus ticket is an insurmountable barrier to many. Your support will help us buy these bus tickets. Additionally, we are working closely with the Zambia Mission to upgrade our vehicles, enabling us to transport students and faculty safely and efficiently.
