The Carr College of Nursing is seeking funds to purchase new state-of-the-art simulation equipment—powerful tools in training future nurses.
Our Nursing faculty plan case study-based simulations providing opportunities for our Nursing students to think, act, communicate and practice skills on patients as professional nurses. The faculty are skilled at planning crises and complications allowing students to make autonomous decisions in patient care in the safe environment of a laboratory.
During the simulation scenarios, the students practice with actual hospital equipment. Life-size computerized mannequins speak and have authentic heart, lung and bowel sounds.. The students begin by responding to one patient in the simulation laboratory and grow to caring for multiple patients in simulation in the final semester of their studies. Medication administration safety is an important skill in simulation.
The simulation curriculum at the Carr College of Nursing is based on professional standards. We appreciate your consideration to support this project.
