Story
Horsham Matters is appealing for your financial support with the ongoing running costs of our foodbank project which takes our services to outlying areas of Horsham District. Stopping at 8 locations every week, this part of our service to the community needs funds for buying food, vehicle expenses, driver costs and tech resources.
During the first year of the pandemic, requests for emergency food support in rural parts of our district increased well over the 3x we were experiencing in Horsham. It was particularly noticeable as we were running a doorstep delivery service at the time due to covid restrictions.
Launched in April 2021 the Horsham Matters Hub on the Move vehicle has provided a range of services including a mobile 'pick your own parcel' foodbank to a range of communities across the District including Billingshurst, Broadbridge Heath, Southwater, Steyning, Storrington, Pulborough, Warnham & Henfield.
As well as providing 3-days' emergency food to individuals & families in need there is support available in the form of a budgeting and debt advice so that we can address not only the short-term crisis that people are facing, but also support them into financial resilience in the longer term..
This approach is in line with our vision and that of the Trussell Trust to work towards an end to foodbanks. It is crucial that we support clients to address the root cause of their challenges and for us to facilitate that through direct work and lobbying at a local and national level as appropriate.
