Story
Our Hindu Society started over 50 years ago with a group of ladies going house to house and conducting bhajan keertan and pooja in each other's homes. The Society was formed by this group giving it a structure and a constitution.
It's gone from strength over the decades, providing not only a place (Mandir) of worship, but a community centre supporting our elderly community and a place for youngsters to learn about the Hindu culture be it through dance, yoga or Hindi classes.
For many of our vulnerable elderly members, the Hindu Society provides a much needed place to socialise with others and feel part of something.
Off the back of last year's success, our members and anyone who'd like to join us will be walking around Battersea Park on Sunday 4th June. Despite some bad knees and hips, many of our members made it around Battersea Park last year, to raise money, so that the Hindu Society can continue to provide vital social care and recreational activities to the Hindu and wider community in South London.
And we're doing it all again to raise much needed funds to keep our Hindu Society services going!
Some members will be walking and raising money in honour of loved ones we've sadly lost because the Hindu Society was a special place for them.
Please sponsor our Battersea Park walk. If there's a specific member you're supporting then please add their name to your comment.
