People in Gwent are experiencing sexual violence right now.
Statistics are useful, but they don't describe the trauma and psychological pain that survivors of rape and sexual assault experience or the number that felt unable to report their assault to the Police.
We understand the difficulties people face when disclosing such traumatic events. We know that survivors of rape and sexual assault who do not receive the right support will often struggle to move forward. Without the opportunity to recover, the impact of abuse can wreak havoc on both their mental and physical health.
With your support, our staff will be there every step of the way ensuring survivors receive the right help and support when they need it the most.
Survivors of sexual violence may appear to be invisible, but they are the people you work with; meet at school or university; your friends or family members.

My counsellor was amazing. She was kind, patient and so understanding if I needed a break or to just cry. She made me feel very comfortable from the start. There was no judgement or statements saying, 'I know'. She would listen and give me the support I needed.

Our Independent Sexual Violence Advisors help survivors to improve their situation, feel more in control and make decisions that are right for them.
The Sexual Abuse Counselling Service supports survivors to improve their wellbeing and develop coping mechanisms through individual and group-based therapies.
The Sexual Violence Recovery Toolkit enables survivors to gain practical tools that build resilience and assist recovery.
The Sexual and Financial Exploitation team provides information, advice, support and advocacy services to adults and young people who are currently, or are at risk of, experiencing sexual or financial exploitation.
Peer Support Groups, which bring survivors together with shared experiences to support each other in a safe space, introducing ideas and approaches to start a new life after trauma.
Creative Therapies, which provides a space for survivors to express themselves and their experiences through various therapeutic activities.
