Story
To care for our 600+ rescue residents our sanctuary needs additional power to run our heating, tools, and equipment for maintenance, lighting, and most importantly, to provide warmth for our animals as the days get darker and the weather becomes colder. Many of our residents are older, more fragile, or have additional needs which means we need to be able to provide as much comfort and warmth for them as we can. But with electricity bills of over £4,000 per quarter, which are set to rise in March 2024, any help towards these costs go such a long way.
Our exotic animals, including iguanas, tortoises, marmosets, parrots, and snakes all need a higher level of heat to stay healthy all year round, and this is especially important in colder periods. As the grazing season ends, more of our horses, donkeys, and other animals come in from the fields and need warmth and bedding to be able to stay healthy during these winter months.
Our entire sewage system collapsed in the summer, forcing us to close our toilet blocks and hire portaloos (as many of our visitors will have experienced). Sadly, our landlords weren't interested in financially assisting with these essential repairs, which set us back over £60,000.
We understand times are tough for everyone as the cost of living rises, so if you are not able to make a financial donation, then please share the information about our appeal as this is also a great help to our appeal.
