Story
Two years ago, we began fundraising to build homes for some of the most vulnerable families in Syria. Millions have been displaced across the country, with many of them seeking refuge in the north. We were completely humbled to see that collectively you have given almost 1,000 homes for our Syrian brothers and sisters in such a short time.
Last month, Yasrab Shah, our fundraising director at Muslim Hands. had the honour of travelling to Syria to visit the lifechanging homes you have built for the first time. Sister Hala is one of the beneficiaries of this blessed project, ma sha Allah. She moved into her new home with her three children just four months ago after having lived in the difficult conditions of an Internally Displaced Peoples (IDP) camp.
Hala described to us how horrendous the conditions were in the camps,
In winter, the tents would become flooded for months. The water reached so high, it was like living in a pool, not a tent. She is so grateful to Allah and you too for providing a roof over her head. Since moving into this home my life is much better and I am so much happier. Allah is so Kind.
The winter months are here. It takes just one step out your door to feel the icy air penetrating your bones.
Last year we heard news of babies freezing to death in Syrias IDP camps. Hala recounts her own experience of the cold, When it used to get very cold, Id take the children to the neighbours just so that we could warm ourselves in their tent.
The homes youre building are providing privacy, security and shelter for our brothers and sisters. You have taken so many families from living in tents in the cold, to having walls and a roof shielding them from the elements. Sadly, we saw countless more families still living in tents, but you could help us to change their lives around too.
Will uou help build a hole for a Syrian family, this winter?
