Story
It's Hispanic Heritage Month at Mixteca, and we are celebrating Mixteca's biggest year EVER:
>> We provided 23,987 boxes of food to our neighbors facing food insecurity
>> We served more than 35,537 community members with our education, wellness, and advocacy programs.
>> We reached 45,930 individuals through in-person grassroots outreach efforts.
>> We shared culturally and linguistically critical resources with more than 138,240 immigrant families.
The need for support in our community continues to grow.
As outlined in a recent study published by the NYC Health Foundation, individuals with uncertain access to food have lower diet quality, higher rates of diet-related disease, and higher health care costs. Additionally:
>> Food-insecure New Yorkers are twice as likely to report unsatisfactory health.
>> Food-insecure New Yorkers are nearly nine times more likely to report difficulty obtaining food.
We need your support to ensure that our community doesn't have to make health care sacrifices like delaying medical care or tough trade-offs like skipping meals to afford food for their children. Please donate* or fundraise during Hispanic Heritage Month to help us support more families with access to free high-quality and nutritious foods, healthcare workshops, and ongoing support for physical and mental wellness.
*All donations are tax-deductible and eligible for a corporate match. Donors can verify the organization at Mixteca's Candid Profile.
