Story
Blair Castle’s Hugh Chamberlain's endeavour, from the rugged terrain of Highland Scotland to the vast expanse of the Sahara Desert, is not just a journey; it's a heartfelt tribute to his late Father-in-Law, Tony Rawlings. Tony's dream of exploring the world in his cherished 1993 Land Rover Defender 300tdi lives on through this daring expedition.
Despite Tony's untimely passing due to cancer, his spirit of adventure continues to inspire. During his illness, he found solace in planning and modifying the Land Rover for this very journey, a welcome distraction from his treatments. Although Tony is no longer here to witness it, Hugh embarks on this odyssey in his memory, aiming to raise vital funds for RSABI and Eden Valley Hospice, charities close to both families' hearts.
With determination as their compass, Hugh and his friend Dave Hill, whom he met at Agricultural College, will navigate the arduous 5000-mile route, relying solely on maps and intuition. The journey, set for this September, promises to be a test of endurance and resilience, echoing Tony's own courageous battle.
