Story

One of our latest residents is five-month-old Otto. Otto was discovered by a member of the public in a cat carrier, and on the carrier was a note reading please help me. Thankfully the kind person who found him took Otto to their local vets as it was visible to see that he was in a lot of pain.

Otto was immediately examined by a vet and administered pain relief. It was evident by looking at him that his hip was dislocated, so further x-rays were arranged to ensure there wasnt any other injuries that needed attention. From the x-rays a plan was made to ensure Otto could live as normal a life as possible.

Firstly, the veterinary team attempted to rectify Ottos hip problem by pushing the joint back into place, but unfortunately it kept popping back out. Therefore, Otto requires an operation called a femoral head ostectomy, otherwise known as a hip excision. The excision will help with Ottos mobility and ensure he is pain free.

Whilst under our care Otto has been receiving pain relief, a secure shelter and nutritious meals to provide the energy to keep fighting, but there's a long road ahead for little Otto. Otto will also need antibiotics to fight any infection, on-going pain relief and specialist foods to help him build up strength. Of course, we are also providing Otto with the affection and encouragement this young kitten requires and so desperately deserves.

As is often the case with many of the animals we receive, Otto is a little fighter! He is extremely friendly with a loud purr and is always on the lookout for the next person available for petting and cuddles.

The cost of Ottos operation and aftercare is likely to reach in the region of £1,000. As Otto is still only very young it is important that he can live a full, happy and playful life as every kitten should! Can you help us to cover the cost of the present and on-going care, treatment and rehabilitation Otto requires?

We rely entirely on the support and generosity of people like you, to help animals like Otto. Please give whatever you can afford and help us to help Otto.

Thank you.
