Story
It’s no secret that the 2024 budget is set to sting many of us from April 2025, and we’re fearful that as well as the increase in National Insurance that we’ll start paying, we’re going to see a decrease in one-off and regular donations that we currently receive, as well as suppliers putting prices up to cover their increased bills. These things combined will have a detrimental effect on the sanctuary, and with such uncertainty, and no government support for animal welfare charities, we’re working hard to create a contingency plan to ensure our animals’ needs are met regardless.
As the temperatures drop and the days grow shorter, we’re launching our critical winter fundraising campaign to help cover the essential costs of caring for our 600+ rescued animals.
With the increased expenses that come with the winter, combined with us closing to the public for 3 months - thus having to rely on donations to get through - this is an appeal to our supporters to ensure we can continue providing the highest level of care to our animals.
From the mountains of straw needed to keep the animals warm and comfortable, the increased vet bills as animals are more prone to needing treatment when it’s colder, to the increased electricity bills to power heat lamps and keep facilities well-lit and operational, the costs quickly add up.
It’s a monumental undertaking, but we are committed to ensuring that every single one of our rescues receives the food, comfort, medical treatment and overall care they require to thrive throughout the winter. The funds raised through this campaign will allow us to continue our life-saving work, providing a safe haven for vulnerable animals in need.
