Story
After considerable investment into the care of these little prickly creatures we became a registered charity in February 2020 to solidify our ongoing commitment to the rescue and rehabilation of our local hedgehogs.
We are able to provide high quality care for our hedgehogs which includes veterinary pods, heat pads, incubators and other necessary equipment. With the help of your donations we have also been able to extend this vital equipment to our on-call volunteers who give up their time each evening to collect and care for vulnerable hedgehogs overnight.
The number of hedgehogs in need of help is increasing every year from our initial 121 hedgehogs in the beginning (2017), over 500 (2021 & 2022) to an unprecedented 943 (2023).
With all the increases in cost for medication, food and in electricity to keep them warm and clean we are increasingly dependant on your donations to continue our work.
We can have at least 30 hedgehogs in at any one time and this increase at peak times to well over 40. This is in addition to those with our foster carers, which can be up to 70 or 80 at any one time..
We thank you for your support and all your valued donations will go towards the ongoing running costs for the sanctuary.
