Story
Since 2018, the Fife Gingerbread Heat and Eat appeal has been directly supporting vulnerable families. We have been overwhelmed by the support from local communities and businesses across Fife and we are proud to now launch our 2024 appeal!
Our mission is simple but vital: to ensure that children and young people in Fife grow up in homes that are safe, warm, and healthy. With the increase in living costs, more families are struggling to meet basic needs. Your support can make all the difference.
Why Your Support Matters
Every penny raised through our Annual Appeal goes directly to support families in crisis, providing critical support all year round. This is not just about temporary relief – it’s about creating lasting change and giving children and young people the opportunity to flourish and feel connected to their communities.
In Fife, there are 23% of children and young people growing up facing poverty - a recent survey of our supported families revealed that 74% of respondents are surviving below low-income thresholds. This statistic rises for lone-parent households. These staggering numbers show the far-reaching impact of poverty on families in our communities, and the need for us all to come together to help the most vulnerable.
100% of your donations will be used to benefit vulnerable families:
- Ensuring children flourish in warm homes with access to heat and electricity
- Offering healthy meals and groceries to families struggling to make ends meet
- Providing crisis support when emergencies arise
- Helping families with a special Festive Package that can include toys, food, vouchers, fuel – ensuring every child experiences the magic of Christmas
The Impact Last Year
Thanks to your generosity, last year’s Heat & Eat Appeal was a huge success.
The money raised ensured that over 165 families, including 313 children and young people had a safe and warm Christmas by providing a festive package to their household. The appeal supported an additional 142 households with crisis support throughout the year.
We are looking for individuals, community groups and businesses in Fife to get involved. If you would like to learn more about our campaign get in touch.
