Story
The world of rugby will be descending on France this autumn for the Rugby World Cup, so we’re using this spotlight on the game we love to raise vital funds and awareness for the charity.
Over 30 riders from Wales and across the UK will be taking on the challenge of riding 493 miles over 5 back-to-back days from the home to London Welsh RFC at Old Deer Park in Richmond, all the way across France to Lyon. Arriving in time to join thousands of fans in the city as Wales take on Australia in the Rugby World Cup.
Averaging around 100 miles each day this will be an epic physical and mental challenge.
But they won’t be alone. Joining them on the challenge are Welsh rugby legends Ian Gough, Tony Copsey as well as Head for Change founder Alix Popham. Also joining the peloton to support the riders through every mile will be Tour de France winner, Geraint Thomas.
A number of partners and sponsors are also doing their bit to support this challenge. So a big thank you to HUUB, Rouleur, Maurtens, Fizik, Abus, WECycle, Melin Consultants and FarleyWood.
Please show your support to all the riders by donating whatever you can. The money raised will go directly towards the education, care and support and potential treatments in rugby through Head for Change.
Our goal is to create a safe space for our sporting heroes, past, present and future that suffer from sports-related brain injuries and connect with the best brains in science and research to make positive change.
We are determined to continue to raise awareness and educate people about sports-related dementia in rugby. With your support, we are fundraising for much needed research in the prevention and cure for early onset dementia and neurogenerative disease in the sport we love.
