Story

Welcome to our Great North Run #TeamHDA campaign page for 2023.

By taking part in the Great North Run 2023 you can help us support people living with Huntington's disease.

Representing the Huntington's Disease Association at the Great North Run was easily one of the best things I have ever done. I had always wanted to run this famous race and cross that finish line on the South Shields seafront, but in 2022 I was able to run it for the first time, while raising money for the HDA, and it's an experience I will never forget. When the miles got tough (and some of those hills are very tough!) I drew inspiration from the thousands of charity runners around me. But seeing other HDA runners, in those fetching pink and green shirts, was just spine-tingling. As luck (or fate) would have it, I managed to cross the finish line with another HDA runner and we shared a congratulatory, if breathless, high five as we finished our 13.2 miles. I couldn't have dreamed of a better finish. I know first-hand how much the HDA does for people as they have helped my family for years. They provide a lifeline for families like mine, and any money raised is a huge help for a relatively small charity. - Josh Halliday, #TeamHDA 2022
