Story

On Sunday, 9th March 2025, we’re proud to have 12 incredible runners representing Hunts Community Cancer Network (HCCN) in the Cambridge Half Marathon. This scenic 13.1-mile race is one of the most inspiring events in the UK, and our team is lacing up their trainers to make a meaningful impact.

Each runner is taking on this challenge to help raise £5,000, which will go directly toward supporting adults in Huntingdonshire living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis.

A year ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was fortunate to have family support, but it meant so much to know that HCCN were there for a conversation or for a spot of yoga. It’s a very daunting and clinical world to suddenly be thrown into, and HCCN really does provide that all-important friendly face." - Fiona

Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of those who rely on HCCN. 👉 https://hccnthecharity.org/

In June last year, I sadly lost my mum to cancer. She was the most beautiful, kind, and wonderful person you could ever wish to meet. Throughout her battle, she was supported by the wonderful people at HCCN, and I will be forever grateful for everything they did for her and our family." - Ben

"Both the charity and cancer care itself are very close to my heart, especially since losing my dad to cancer in 2021." – Hannah

Why This Matters:

HCCN is dedicated to improving the lives of adults affected by cancer in Huntingdonshire, helping them regain control, build resilience, and enjoy a better quality of life. From support groups and wellness classes to providing additional resources for our NHS nurses, every pound raised goes toward delivering compassionate, life-changing support.

After a very tough start to 2024, where I struggled with my mental health, I found running. This is where my mental and physical health started to improve. I am so pleased that I can use my new hobby to raise money for this great charity." – Wayne
