Story
St Anne's has been serving the community of Limehouse, East London for the last 300 years, and now needs urgent help to ensure that we can continue our mission of community outreach and historical preservation.
The church is in a very poor state of repair despite several phases of restoration over recent decades. The building is not fully accessible and a top priority is the installation of lifts and ramps for disability access to the crypt, nave, and gallery levels. Communal facilities, including toilets, kitchen, meeting rooms, and the creche need to be upgraded. The heating and lighting systems are inadequate and need replacing. The windows and glasswork need repair. The interior fabric of the church has remained largely unrestored and has been seriously damaged by rainwater penetration from the parapets. The crypt still houses buried bodies and rooms used in WW2, which must be refurbished. The churchyard could be landscaped to provide community gardens. There is much to be done and the need is urgent!
