Give the gift of Christmas

For most of us Christmas is a joyful occasion where we spend time with our families. Sadly, for those fleeing from the fear of abuse it can be a difficult time but with your help we can make Christmas magical for the women and children we support.

Story

Why we need your help

The end of the year is fast approaching, a time where we all look back on the last 12 months, the highs, the lows and the good times we take through with us. Sadly, for those living in fear of abuse there is no let up and domestic abuse continues to control and terrorise the lives of women in our community. This can be a difficult time of year as they spend their Christmas away from their home, loved ones and come to terms with the abuse they have suffered.

For many of us, we will be looking forward to those Christmas traditions. Putting up the decorations, opening the doors of the advent calendar, buying gifts for our loved ones and looking forward to Christmas dinner; for the women and children we support this is no different. The festivities can provide a much-needed chance to make new happy memories together away from abuse.

Can you make a donation and give the women and children the gift of Christmas? Your support will help to make Christmas special and ensure vital services can continue into 2025.

How will my donation help?

£5 could cover the cost of wrapping paper, scissors and tape. It is important that the women we support can choose gifts for their children and then wrap them themselves, as part of creating a unique Christmas experience.

£10 could cover the cost of a festive activity. This could be anything from baking some festive cookies through to a Christmassy craft activity for all the women and children to get involved in, providing some much needed quality time together.

£15 could the cost of a gift for a woman. Christmas isn't just for the children. We want to ensure all the women we support have a gift to open Christmas morning.

£20 could cover the cost of a gift for a child. Children all around the world will be excited to see if Santa has been on Christmas morning and enjoy opening their gifts, for children in refuge it should be no different.

£30 could help to buy a Christmas tree and decorations. This would ensure that we could transform our refuges into a Winter Wonderland and bring some festive cheer at what can be a difficult time for women and children impacted by domestic abuse.

£50 could provide Christmas dinner for a woman and her children. This will enable them to sit down together and enjoy Christmas dinner with all of the trimmings and enjoy some much needed quality family time to make new happy memories.

We know this continues to be a worrying time financially with the cost of living crisis, so please only give what you can spare. Even a small amount will help us to create the biggest smiles on the faces of the women and children we support on Christmas Day. It will give them chance to spend precious time together, as they look forward to a happy future, free from the fear of abuse.

Thank you for your support.
