Story

Hi, my name is Harvey and I am 14 years old.

I am a very happy, social, and cheeky little boy who has a passion for music, especially Rock 'n' Roll. My idol is Elvis!

My mum always tells me how proud she is of me, as I always try my hardest.

I suffer from quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy due to brain damage (which affects three of my limbs: my left arm, hand, and both of my legs). The left side of my body is affected the most.

I have very limited use of my left arm and have a deformity in my left wrist and hand.

I have a severe vision impairment and I'm long-sighted. I also have a diagnosis of global developmental delay, which means I am delayed in all areas of communication and learning, and need full assistance and one-on-one care with feeding, washing, dressing, changing, using the toilet, and transfers into my equipment.

I also have a history of epilepsy caused by focal seizures, which can progress to a tonic-clonic seizure. I can go very stiff, fall, or have convulsions down both sides of my body, which can lead to calling an ambulance immediately and makes me feel very sleepy and unwell.

Due to a lot of in-depth research and recommendations, Mummy found a fantastic team of private physiotherapists who are helping to prolong my progress.

However, it costs a lot of money for me to attend each week, and unfortunately, this treatment is not available to me on the NHS.

I am a very active young lad who loves a challenge, and I know I have a lot more to give to reach my full potential of living life with cerebral palsy.

I'm at my happiest when I'm on my feet, and I would give anything to be able to dance freely from my wheelchair.

I only receive physiotherapy from the NHS three times a year via a group session, which sadly isn't enough to help me progress and learn things I could do independently if I were given the chance.

Mini Wonders Physiotherapy can provide one-on-one, 1.5-hour weekly sessions and intense blocks when required, but at a cost of £80+ per hour.

So I am asking for your help to raise funds for me and other children who suffer from similar conditions, through this amazing charity called 'Tree of Hope.'

I promise to do my best and ensure that the money you help me raise will help me accomplish my dreams of becoming independent.

I know I have a long journey ahead of me, but with your help, I know I can do this.

It doesn't matter how much or how little you have to offer—every penny counts!

If we manage to exceed the target, the extra money will go towards other children through Tree of Hope.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and thank you to those who have helped us so far.

All our love,

Charlotte (Harvey's Mum) & Harv xx
