JOB DONE! Thank you to all our supporters. We reached our target of £15,000 and have passed the money on to the QE2 Activity Centre for their new boat.
-----
In support of the QE2 Activity Centre in Southampton we have set ourselves a formidable challenge: to walk the equivalent of three times the length of the South Downs Way (100 miles) in a week in May. Some members are going to do the whole Way themselves, as individuals, while other members are going to make up the aggregate number of team miles by joining them at varying stages of the trek. 300 miles is also the distance to our French twin club, Nantes-sur-Loire (as the crow flies!) and our friends there have also kindly offered to support this cause.
We've drawn inspiration from Sir Captain Tom: although were not quite in his age bracket (average age of the team is 72 years!) we hope that 300 miles in a week will help to move you to back our efforts! We were recently inspired by hearing about the outstanding work that the QE2 Activity Centre does in support of people with additional needs - any money we raise will go directly to them.
So, however you are celebrating this coming spring and summer, and the lifting of Lockdown restrictions, spare a thought and a few pounds in sponsorship, please, for our Challenge x3. Maybe well see you on the footpath? You know, outdoor exercise is great for your body and your mental health. But if you can't support us in person, please support our cause.
