Story
Anglican International Development is a charity based in Newcastle upon Tyne which supports projects in East Africa focused on microfinance, healthcare training, community-based water, sanitation and hygiene, agriculture and theological training.
From 13th - 15th August, our intrepid band of hikers is taking on the gruelling challenge of trekking 66 miles along the ancient Hadrian's Wall. An impressive feat considering that the guidebooks recommend taking a full six days to cover this distance! They will set out from Newcastle's Millennium Bridge at 9am on Friday 13th and will finish at Carlisle Castle at 9am on Sunday 15th. Along the way, their morale will be boosted by others joining them for the most challenging middle section of the trek on the Saturday.
Requiring a brisk pace across the beautiful landscapes once occupied by Roman legionaries, this demanding challenge is taking place to raise money for AID's work in East Africa which aims to alleviate poverty and promote health. Please take this opportunity to back our brave hikers - in doing so, you will enable:
- midwives to graduate and save mothers' lives in Jonglei, South Sudan;
- business people to access loans in Marsabit, northern Kenya;
- internally displaced people in Gondokoro, South Sudan, to access clean water;
- and more!
Thank you very much for partnering with AID - your donation will make a real difference.
