Story
Hackney Laces, founded in 2011 by Katee Hui, is a community football club dedicated to providing girls and women in East London with opportunities to play football. Recognizing the lack of female participation in the sport, the organisation has harnessed football as a powerful tool for empowerment and aspiration.
In addition to football training and matches, Hackney Laces offers off-pitch programs that support personal development, including job applications, training opportunities, and mentoring. The club fosters a supportive community that serves over 200 girls.
Hackney Laces has expanded to include South London Laces in Lambeth and Wandsworth, as well as Limehouse Laces in Tower Hamlets. With a strong emphasis on community engagement and social change, Katee Hui continues to lead the organisation in making a positive impact on the lives of young women.
