Story
Without love, life can be so sour.
Barely able to stand on their own… so small and all alone… two-week-old kittens Ralphie, Albie, Claira, and Arwin were found next to their lifeless mother. It was miraculous these tiny babies were even seen on the side of the road. With no mama to keep them safe, warm, and fed, they would need so much human help just to stay alive: bottled formula multiple times a day, safe shelter and medical care, and love to help them grow. Because of our dedicated donors, we knew we had the resources to come to their rescue!
Foster mom Cindy jumped right in and gave these wee ones the support they needed to thrive until finding their furever homes! Their stories are ones of success and happily ever afters: Claira and Arwin were adopted together and joined new furry friends Ollie and Ray. Ralphie’s photo was so cute he was adopted right off the screen! And Albie went home with a friend he made while here. Thanks to support from people like you, each of these cats are now home for the holidays.
Holly thought she was, too—her homecoming was a classic tale, the puppy purchased on Christmas Eve to the delight of small children. But her “happily ever after” came to an abrupt end when she was later banished to the yard by owners with no patience for natural puppy behavior. Holly was given a bed on the porch, a water bowl that turned slimy, and a food bucket that ran empty. In time, her neighbors grew concerned, begging officials to intervene: after surviving outside for years on the margins of family life, Holly was emaciated, furless after gnawing at flea bites with fractured teeth, and approaching a lonely (untimely) death. With the help of the Second Chance family, she knows warmth today; her winter coat is growing in and her belly is full. Holly had no memories of having ever lived a life so sweet, but now she always will.
