What if the key to transforming vulnerable teenagers’ lives wasn’t just mentorship—but mentoring in reverse? Unlike traditional interventions that treat young people as recipients of help, we empower them as giver.
Growing2gether is the only charity in Scotland to pair young people as mentors to nursery children needing extra support, using positive psychology to build their mental health, confidence and life skills. It is unique because it benefits not only the young person but also the child. Mentoring another child also earns the young person an interpersonal skills qualification.
Our impact is clear: participants show significant reductions in anxiety and depression, increased self-belief, and stronger engagement in education.
Growing2gether doesn’t just change the lives of teenagers—it reshapes entire families and communities. Parents who once saw their children struggle with self-doubt, disengagement, or mental health challenges now witness them stepping into leadership, taking responsibility, and building confidence. This shift radiates outward—when teens feel empowered, their families experience less stress, stronger communication, and newfound hope.
‘I thought I would be scared, but I wasn’t. I can’t wait until Thursdays – he’s my wee best pal’. - Adam (14)
And the community? It thrives. Schools see re-engaged students, nurseries benefit from compassionate teen mentors, and local networks grow stronger as young people become contributors and community leaders, rather than crises to be solved.
Investing in Growing2gether means supporting a proven model that redefines youth support by empowering them as givers. Your support will help expand this transformative approach, reaching more young people and strengthening communities. Join us in rewriting the future for Scotland’s youth.
I think Growing2gether has given my kid something that is hers: knowledge of herself. It's also building her confidence and skills to navigate more social situations. - Parent
