Dear Friends of Greenwich Theatre,
I’m delighted to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of Greenwich Theatre. My name is James Turner, and for me, this role is truly a homecoming. As a graduate of Rose Bruford, I spent years working as an actor, director, singer, and comedian before stepping into the corporate world. For the last five years, I’ve been in TV & Film facilities and logistics, most recently as Managing Director of a leading location supplies company in West London. But theatre has always been my passion, and I am thrilled to be returning to a space that means so much to this community.
I’m especially excited to work alongside James Haddrell, our long-standing Artistic Director, whose vision and leadership have shaped Greenwich Theatre into the creative powerhouse it is today. My role is to ensure that the business side of the theatre is as strong as its artistic output, supporting James’ vision so that we can continue to produce and present bold, inspiring work.
Greenwich Theatre has long been a cherished hub of creativity, and one of my first priorities is launching a vital fundraising campaign for our Accessibility Project, ensuring our beloved venue is truly welcoming to all.
We need to raise £50,000 to fund essential improvements, including:
✔️ New accessible toilets
✔️ Automatic doors at our entrance
✔️ Platform lifts so all artists can access the stage
✔️ A hearing loop for enhanced sound clarity
✔️ Video tours to support neurodivergent patrons
This is a big step forward for us, but we can’t do it alone. As a charity Greenwich Theatre has always thrived because of the incredible support of its community, and we’re asking for your help to make these changes a reality. Whether through a donation, sharing our campaign, or simply spreading the word, your support will make a real difference.
Together, we can ensure that Greenwich Theatre continues to be a place where everyone feels welcome.
