The Great North Explore
Lace up your boots and hit the trails with the Great North Air Ambulance Service - explore our region while raising vital funds for our life-saving service.
Choose one or more of our guided walks where you will join other walkers and a qualified hike leader, there's much to see and memories to be made!
Helvellyn Hike
Sunday 21st May sees the first in the series, with a ~15km walk to the summit of Helvellyn, giving stunning views of Thirlmere and Ullswater lakes. This is the most challenging route of the three events, but avoids the exposed Swirral and Striding Edge sections. This was voted 'Britain's Best Walk', so is not to be missed!
Cleveland 4 Peaks
Our very popular C4P is back for 2023 and is the easiest of the three events - though there are still ~13.1miles to be tackled, taking in Roseberry Topping, Captain Cook's Monument, Codhill Heights and Highcliff Nab. The views across the Tees Valley are stunning, so join us on Saturday 3rd June to see them for yourself!
Cheviot Challenge
Northumberland National Park plays host to the third of our events, taking place on Sunday 16th July. At 10miles, it's an achievable distance but takes in some challenging terrain and inclines - however these are rewarded by scenic panoramic views when you reach the summit of Windy Gyle, over the border in Scotland!
By joining these challenges and raising vital funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service, you're helping ensure that we can continue to be there for the most severely ill or injured people in the region.
