Every pound raised by our Team Christie supporters at this year's Great Manchester Run will help to fund the redevelopment of the CT department at The Christie.

This redevelopment is a vital improvement which is needed to enhance our patients' experience. CT is one of the busiest areas within the hospital and sees over 100 patient visits a day. These works will enable us to increase the capacity of the area, future-proof our services and ensure the space is a private and dignified place for our patients to wait and be scanned.

Our radiology team is in the process of introducing innovative and potentially curative procedures. As part of the development, we would like to introduce a dedicated 4D scanner with innovative enhancements to allow for these procedures to be performed. The machine will allow us to not only scan more patients than ever before, but will mean we can carry out procedures such as ablation, which enables us to target cancerous cells more precisely and harm less of the healthy tissue.

Without the commitment of our fantastic fundraisers we would note be able to redevelop areas like the radiology department and we would be unable to invest in state-of-the-art equipment and provide our patients and their families with the level of care and support that we do.
