Story
The Great British Garden Party fundraising event is designed to share the Nation's love of gardens and to raise vital funds for some of the UK's best-loved nursing and health charities. It builds on the National Garden Scheme's rich heritage of great gardens, great cakes and great causes.
The National Garden Scheme has been raising millions of pounds for nursing and health charities by opening private gardens since 1927. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to close our garden gates from April to June - our key fundraising months , for the first time in our history, leaving a shortfall in funding for our beneficiary charities. As the single largest funder of Marie Curie's work, the longest standing partner of Macmillan Cancer Support and a key funder for Hospice UK, Carers Trust, Parkinson's UK and The Queens Nursing Institute this shortfall continues to have a major impact.
We've been so inspired by our party hosts and their ingenious variations on the garden party theme, tailoring their events to their outside spaces and to their families and friends. Last year some simply threw open their garden gates and invited their neighbours for afternoon tea, making new friends. Others held a coffee morning, paella party, bring and buy sale, a musical event or a plant and produce sale by the front gate. We can't wait to see what our hosts create this year.
Thank you to you all for your generous support. Whether you have held an event yourself or are simply donating to the cause, every donation you make, large or small will make a real difference to those in need.
THANKYOU
