Story

On 3 January 2017, Vicki and James Woodall experienced every parents worst nightmare when they were told by doctors at The Royal Marsden that their four-year-old son had a rare type of cancer. The Woodalls lives changed overnight. Although heartbroken, Vicki and James were inspired to make a positive difference to the lives of children with cancer by raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and so George and the Giant Pledge was born.

The Woodall familys inspirational story and strong social media presence has engaged over 13,000 donors so far, with as many as 50,000 people reading their Facebook blog posts every night, as they work towards smashing their target of £1,000,000. All the money raised by the Giant Pledge is being dedicated to the peadiatric unit at The Royal Marsden, so far the pledge has supported amazing play specialists, a peadiatric psychologist and is working towards funding a consultant in the peadiatric drug development unit for five years.

Inspired by the amazing story, Google UK selected George and the Giant Pledge with The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity as their first ever Charity of the Year. If you are a Googler please connect your own fundraising page to this one- or use it to make a donation!
