Update number 2 9pm:
I am excited that on 23rd June 2022, I will be taking on an endurance challenge of a 24 hour cycle ride to raise funds for Dreamland Hospital maternity ward in Kenya.
WHY AM I DOING THIS?
I have raised money for this amazing hospital in the past to make surgery available for children with club feet. Recently I spoke to one of the lead doctors who said the number one priority is to now raise £87,000 to provide an excellent maternity care unit for the hundreds of pregnant mothers and new born babies living in the surrounding remote and rural area.
SPECIAL BABY UNIT
Dreamland Mission Hospital has gone from performing 4-5 deliveries per month to up to 120 deliveries per month that's a remarkable 1,440 babies per year!
Currently, babies that are born prematurely or who have difficulty breathing have to be referred to another hospital. The journey to this hospital can be up to 3 hours long on very poor roads. Sadly some babies are not healthy enough to make this journey.
An existing bungalow will be completely refurbished and equipped to provide incubators, oxygen and monitoring to care for premature babies and babies who have difficulty breathing after birth.
Thanks to a very generous donor, ALL DONATIONS WILL BE DOUBLED*
*up to £30,000
