Story
GO are sending a group of volunteers to Bangladesh in November, to support Rohingya women and children in Rohingya camps.
The Rohingya are an ethnic minority originating from Myanmar, who have faced prolonged persecution since the 1980s. In 1982 they were denied citizenship, resulting in widespread displacement. Continued persecution has led to large refugee camps forming in parts of Bangladesh.
We currently have 4 permanent health clinics on pieces of land in Coxs Bazaar. Our goal is to build 2 more. Our volunteers will work on these health clinics, helping camp doctors to provide valuable emergency care treatment, immunisations, ante natal and postnatal care and diagnoses and treatments of diseases. Planting and gardening in the surrounding areas will also take place, in order to encourage a more communal environment. We will also be distributing Dignity Kits to women and girls, and Box4Life for new mothers and babies. There will be activities in the child friendly zone we shall be constructing, to provide a safe and fun environment for children and orphans suffering from trauma.
