Story
The Great North Childrens Hospital (GNCH) is one of the four largest Childrens hospitals in the UK. They provide a full range of tailored childrens health services to children from across the north of England and beyond. Annually 32,000 children attend as inpatients, 44,000 children visit our Paediatric Emergency Department, 150,000 children have outpatient appointments and 15,000 attend as day cases. They are the only childrens tertiary and training hospital in England to be rated Outstanding by the Quality and Care Commission.
It has special wards, operating theatres, outpatients, day case suites and an A&E department all tailored to children, their families and carers.
Its young patients include thousands of local children from the North East and Cumbria as well as those who travel with their families from across the country, and even the world, to benefit from the GNCHs specialist services.
How your fundraising is making a difference
Donations to the Great North Childrens Hospital Foundation support the many children and their families who come to our hospital for treatment and care, making their experience the best it possibly can be.
Innovations that really make a difference to our patients and staff including life changing research, cutting-edge equipment and technology are funded by donations along with initiatives to support the wellbeing and development of our staff.
Evidence shows that children have a quicker recovery when they are in an environment they enjoy and we strive to make GNCH as welcoming and friendly as it can be.
Donations also help us pay for the little things that make a big difference to our children including: toys, playrooms/chill-out areas, enrichment activities, murals, clown doctors and music lessons
