Story
Today in the UK there are around 2,500 children and 18,000 people of all ages with upper limb differences. While not all of them need or want a prosthetic arm there is no doubt that for those who do, the route through the NHS is long and arduous.
The Glovers Company has been either funding or partially funding bionic arms for children and adults in partnership with the Open Bionics Foundation since 2018. The Mistress Glover's Flying Circus Campaign is to ensure it can continue to provide state of the art prosthetics to those who need assistance now and in the future.
So dig deep and support the Mistress Glover doing her mind boggling aerobatics together with her intrepid Flying Circus of fifteen wing walkers!
HEAR FROM THE RECIPIENTS ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH A BIONIC ARM!
Safiyyah aged 8 and Kaden aged 9 have recently received their new super-cool Spiderman Bionic Arms.
Safiyyah wanted to be more independent and to do activities with both hands and the first thing she did with her new arm was to go for a bike ride and loved that her arm matched the colours on her bike!
Safiyyah said: “Sometimes it’s hard holding two books with one hand, and sometimes I drop things. I wanted a Hero Arm so I can hold things with both hands. “I use it for lots of things, taking my pencils out, my books, carrying my bag and I play cello with it!”
Kaden has always chosen not to wear a prosthetic but within an hour of being fitted with his Hero Arm, Kaden was able to enjoy his lunch with both hands, open a packet of crisps, pick up fruit, and enjoy a smoothie.
He wanted the Hero Arm so he could do two-handed activities with confidence. “At the moment when he rides his bike, he falls off quite a bit, gets scratches and bruises, so having a Hero Arm will make a big difference in things he can do.” added his mum.
