Story
The white cockade was the symbol of the Jacobites. This cockade was worn by Captain James MacDonald of Glencoe during the 1745 uprising.
Captain James MacDonald was the son of John MacIain (13th Chief of Glencoe) and grandson of MacIain, 12th of Glencoe murdered during the infamous Massacre of 1692. He fought at and survived the Battle of Culloden in 1746, but later surrendered to government troops. He died in 1776.
