Unite for the Night: Sleep Out to end homelessness
On Friday 4th October 2024, join us for the 12th annual Glass Door Sleep Out to raise vital funds and awareness to help us end homelessness in London.
We ask that you aim to raise at least £500, if you raise even more that’s fantastic. Don’t worry if that seems a little daunting, the Fundraising Team will be here to give you tips and support the whole time.
What I liked most about Sleep Out was getting even a tiny glimpse of what it is like to be on the streets at night - the need for companionship and safety, the hardness of the ground, the bugs that share our sleeping bag - and being able to give even a tiny something to help get people off the streets.
Why should you to take part in Sleep Out?
Homelessness is on the rise in London and the cost-of-living crisis continues to intensify, putting more people at risk of homelessness.
By raising funds for Glass Door, we can help someone find a route out of homelessness by providing them with shelter, support from our expert Caseworkers, and the opportunity to either prevent homelessness or permanently leave the streets behind.
About Glass Door
Based in London, Glass Door coordinates the UK's largest network of open-access services for people affected by homelessness. During the hard months of winter, Glass Door also provides emergency winter accommodation.
Year-round, people find advice and support to end their homelessness through trained caseworkers based at partnering drop-in centres. At our shelters, we offer a safe place to sleep and a nutritious hot evening meal and breakfast for up to 105 guests each night, to support people out of homelessness.
Our vision is a world where no one has to sleep on the streets of London, and we’re working every day to achieve this. By partnering with churches and community centres to provide shelter and support, Glass Door is committed to supporting people get—and stay—off the street.
We believe everyone has inherent dignity and we welcome those who turn to us as our guests.
We are open to all, space permitting. We do not require our guests to fill in long, complicated forms or prove they have a local connection to gain access to our services.
