Story
The Mental Health Network Greater Glasgow is a network of people and their carers with a lived experience of mental health problems. We were established as an independent charity in the East End of Glasgow in 2001. We were set up by a group of people with a lived experience of mental ill health who wanted a greater say in how they were treated while using mental health services and how they could better shape the mental health services of the future.
A large piece of our work is around trying to break down the stigma associated with mental health. Everyone has mental health and sometimes its better than at other times. It is very important that we all can talk about out mental health as well as asking people if they are ok?
We run groups from our office for our members. This provides a safe, friendly place for people to meet and support one another through their difficult times. We work with our members to help give them ideas and tools that will help them when their mental health is not so good.
